Brand new UX design and functionalities: Domoscio launches a third version

Domoscio announces the release of the third version of its platform, with an enhanced user experience, new functionalities, gamification, reporting and re-branded products: what are the new features?

This new version is released as Domoscio is in a period of strong growth and it is a logical continuation in its development. Launched in 2013, Domoscio is specialized in the application of artificial intelligence to learning & development. Its solutions are based on the research in cognitive science and data analysis and they are integrated into the company’s learning environment – platforms and course catalogs – to augment it by providing each employee with a personalized learning experience and optimizing skills development. The integration into the environment is now easier thanks to its compatibility with the main interoperability standards of the learning market: SCORM (which remains the reference in terms of interoperability), LTI, xAPI, etc.

“Hub” individualizes learning plans

The first challenge addressed by Domoscio is about optimizing skills acquisition by employees, which implies assessing the gap between the employee’s current skills and what is expected of him according to his profession. Hub uses adaptive learning technologies to individualize learning plans according to each employee’s skills needs with regards to the company’s skills repositories or strategic workforce planning, for example. To this end, the tool makes use of the company’s repositories as well as its existing course catalogs, both face-to-face and e-learning.

From the employee’s point of view, Hub first allows to evaluate the employees’ proficiency on target skills thanks to an adaptive positioning test: the quizzes are selected by the algorithm according to their relative level of difficulty. Once the employees are assessed, Hub provides a recommendation engine to suggest learning modules (face-to-face and/or e-learning) adapted to their individual needs.

When the modules have been completed, the algorithm reevaluates employees to measure their progress and, if necessary, recommends new learning modules to follow. Hub integrates machine learning to qualify each course and predict optimal paths according to the different typologies of learners. The objective is to design for employees a tailored learning plan which evolves with their skills development.

“Lock” reinforces skills over the long term

Once the skills have been acquired, the objective for the employee is to apply them. Lock meets this challenge by driving the long-term retention of the skills acquired in training to guarantee their application on the field. The tool is based on a spaced repetition system and it offers employees an automated “coaching” after the training thanks to reminders adapted to their needs.

Lock exists in a web AND mobile application, which allows to use it at anytime and anywhere. In practice, once the training has been completed (face-to-face, e-learning or blended learning), employees receive a notification on their smartphone or on the web application when they have a reminder and they must answer one question for each main concept of the training.

Based on employees’ results to each question, the algorithm calculates a next reminder for each concept. Therefore, Lock is able to measure the forgetting curve (or memorizing ability) of each person to support them in the months following the training and to optimize the reinforcement of knowledge and skills.

A third version which focuses on the user experience

With its experience in Data for learning & development, Domoscio has also taken advantage of this third version to provide a completely redesigned platform in terms of functionalities and user experience. This approach is support by the creation of new interfaces which precisely match the uses and roles of the different users: learners, authors, trainers, managers and HR departments.

For the learner, the emphasis is on reporting, social learning and gamification to reinforce the engagement on the tools. For example, the learners benefit from analytics on their skills, learning path and progress, and their accomplishments are rewarded with gaming elements: news feeds, notifications, badges, rankings, etc. Each of those elements can be configured and deactivated if necessary.

With this new version, Domoscio encourages the adoption of its innovative solutions which meet the challenges of automation and individualization… but humans remain at the heart of the learning system! Depending on the users’ role, they have access to the right analytics: for example, the author has feedback on the effectiveness of the learning modules, the manager has information on the skills of his or her employees and HR departments are able to measure the efficiency of learning.
